THE IDEA / A HONG KONG SKI STATION

An unexpected
change of altitude.

From these three words, The R Studio imagined a Hong Kong ski station. A bespoke map transformed familiar landmarks into ski trails, while a cable car, directional signs and snowflakes brought the destination to life around Swatch’s collection.

We developed the concept, spatial design and graphics, supporting material choices, technical detailing and installation. First introduced at K11 MUSEA, the space was designed to be dismantled and reconfigured, allowing its next chapter to retain the same character.

ADAPTATION THROUGH REUSE

A second stop.
The same spirit.

At Harbour City, almost all the original elements returned in a new arrangement. New flooring and a mesh structure brought the installation together within the atrium. Reusing the existing elements helped protect the budget while adapting the visitor journey to a different space.

A destination around an existing pillar.

The cable car, display board and snowflakes establish the ski station. The pillar becomes part of the story through the bespoke Hong Kong map.

A DETAIL TO TAKE HOME

400+ snowflakes.
Each one different.

Days before opening, a new idea emerged: give visitors a card featuring their own unique snowflake. We developed more than 400 individual designs and prepared the print files within a few days, extending the winter story into something visitors could take home.

The reverse left space for a personal message.
